A well-planned plant-based diet can provide all the essential nutrients required for good health, but it’s important to pay attention to specific nutrients that might be harder to obtain from plants.
Microbiomes4Soy partner, The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) wrote an article on “What’s Important for Vegetarians and Vegans to Eat” to provide practical advice for vegetarians and vegans on meeting their nutritional requirements, emphasising the importance of protein, vitamin B12, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids. The article, aiming to reach consumers throughout Europe, highlights soya in its various forms (plain beans, tofu, etc.), as a useful addition to the vegetarian/vegan diet. Soya is a valuable source of high-quality protein, iron, and essential amino acids, placing it as a key ingredient in plant-based diets.
At Microbiomes4Soy, we’re exploring if microbiome-enhanced soya can contribute to meeting the need for sustainable, nutritious, plant-based proteins.
