Donau Soja is a European, multi-stakeholder, not-for profit membership organisation supporting the European Protein Transition with a particular emphasis on sustainable European Non-GMO soya production. It is based in Vienna, with regional offices in Serbia, Ukraine and Moldova. Our mission is to support partners and members in addressing social, environmental and economic challenges in soya production and consumption. This will increase efficiency, fairness and sustainability in European food and feed protein value chains.
For the MICROBIOMES4SOY project, Donau Soja offers the European knowledge platform for legumes, the Legume Hub, to provide open access to all project outputs. Donau Soja provides the secretariat for the Legume Hub. Donau Soja is also coordinating the development of educational resources for the farming community and relevant industries and is supporting the communication of the project results through its EU-wide network, involving all relevant sectors from farmers and farmer associations to food producers and retailers and the Legume Hub. Donau Soja is also involved in investigating the potential of the soybean microbiome and is supporting soil sampling.
Microbiome-Informed Dietary Recommendations:
Exploring Human Health Impacts
Moreover, human health is a central theme, with a dedicated objective to investigate the impact of soya-derived protein diets on the human gut microbiome. The project aims to provide microbiome-informed dietary recommendations, contributing valuable insights to the intersection of nutrition and microbiology.
